So what is a doula anyway, and what can I expect if I decide to have a Your Best Birth Doula at my birth? A doula is a provider of non-medical physical and emotional support to the pregnant women and her partner during labor. A Your Best Birth doula will meet with you during your pregnancy to find out what your goals, wishes, fears are for this birth. She will join you when you are in labor and will stay with you the ENTIRE time, no matter how long labor takes. She will bring music, aromatherapy, massage tools, hot packs, a birth ball and other items to help make you more comfortable in your labor. She will work with you during your labor with different comfort techniques (see FAQ) She will help explain what is going on if you or your partner have any questions during your labor... helping labor to be a little less scary and intimidating. To ensure our availability to YOU when you go into labor, we take a very limited number of doula clients. Because of this, we are often booked solid several months in advance.
