Meet Dorothy Haines

Co-founder of Your Best Birth

Dorothy's interest in becoming a doula began when she
did labor support for a family member. With her prior
knowledge of birth and pregnancy combined with
specialized training and experience, she has the tools to
help women and their partners achieve the birth they
desire. Her previous clients have described her as
compassionate, encouraging, knowledgeable, and caring,
and Dorothy brings these qualities to the births she
attends.

Dorothy has five children, and has experienced a variety
of different childbirth scenarios herself - including
natural unmedicated birth at a birthing center (out of
hospital), natural unmedicated birth in a hospital setting,
a hospital birth with some interventions, and a high-risk
pregnancy ending in a cesarean birth. She breastfed all
of her children, and was involved in La Leche League for
many years.

Dorothy has undergone extensive training as both a doula
and a childbirth educator and continues to expand her
childbirth knowledge.. She is certified as a Birth Doula
through DONA International, and is currently a member
of the DONA Certification Committee, where she is
involved in mentoring new doulas. She is also a certified
childbirth educator with Lamaze International, widely
considered "The Gold Standard" in childbirth education.
Dorothy has been working as a doula since 2003 and has
had the privilege of being a doula at over 50 births.

When she is not working as a doula, Dorothy enjoys being
a full-time mom to her five children, who range in age
from six to nineteen. She is looking forward to helping
you have an empowering and satisfying birth experience.
